Kansas State will show off new football uniforms when the Wildcats host Tulane on Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

It’s the first time in three years that K-State will wear an alternate look on the gridiron.

The new gear features a white helmet, white pants and the traditional purple jersey that K-State wears during home games.

Fans are sure to view the helmet as the main attraction. It features two different logos instead of the Powercat, which was popularized during the Bill Snyder era.

One side of the helmet reveals a throwback K-State logo (a cartoon version of Willie the Wildcat wearing a sweater and holding a pennant) and the other features a purple number assigned to each player.

The new uniforms are not a drastic change from what the Wildcats usually wear. But it is a significant alteration when you consider how conservative K-State has been with its uniform choices over the years.

Klieman experimented with alternate looks during his first season as coach and the Wildcats even wore all white when they played Navy in the 2019 Liberty Bowl.

But the Wildcats only wore their traditional uniforms the past two seasons.

K-State football coach Chris Klieman said they had been in the works for a while from equipment manager Al Cerbe.

“Al and I had been visiting about it for some time,” Klieman said. “Some of it was supply and demand, and shiping and receiving. Everything seemed to go as planned, so this was the time to do it.”

K-State players expressed excitement about the new uniforms.

“It was definitely really, really cool,” K-State receiver Kade Warner said. “It’s something that I think is very rare, from what I’ve heard from all the players here. They don’t do it very often. It’s one of the first times we’ve worn the Wildcat logo. I’m really excited for how it’s all going to look.”
