Only 10 schools remain in the hunt for Dylan Edwards.

The 5-foot-9 running back from Derby announced his list of 10 college finalists on Friday and promised to give a public commitment to one of them shortly after he makes five official visits in June.

Kansas and Kansas State both made the cut for Edwards, a coveted four-star recruit who currently boasts scholarship offers from 22 different schools.

The other eight: Jackson State, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.

“Through this process I was blessed enough to build great relationships with coaches, and I am forever grateful of that,” Edwards wrote on social media. “These are my top 10 schools that I will focus on. I will take my five official visits in the month of June and plan to commit shortly after that.”

Edwards has been a top recruiting target for both Lance Leipold and Chris Klieman for quite some time. As one of the most heralded 2023 prospects from the Sunflower State, landing him would make for a major recruiting victory at either KU or K-State.

He has visited both campuses on unofficial visits and will likely tour them each again when he trims his list in half. Oklahoma, which he previously described as a “dream” scholarship offer is also thought to be among his top choices.

Edwards has a special connection to K-State. His father, Leon, played for Bill Snyder from 1992-94.

We could know his college decision next month.

Edwards become the most heavily recruited football prospect in the Wichita area following a sensational junior season with the Panthers. The 5-foot-9 and 165-pound running back rushed for 2,603 yards and 38 touchdowns while leading Derby to the Class 6A state championship game. Afterward, he was named Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year.
