Here’s everything you need to know about Kansas State’s new 2020 football schedule
Kansas State football fans can begin preparing for the 2020 season.
The Big 12 unveiled revised schedules for all 10 of its members on Wednesday, and the Wildcats now know when and where they will be playing their games as the conference moves forward with plans to take the field as it navigates the coronavirus pandemic.
K-State will open the season at home against Arkansas State on Sept. 12. That will serve as the Wildcats’ lone non-conference game of the season, as previously scheduled opponents Buffalo, North Dakota and Vanderbilt all dropped off the schedule because of cancellations in other leagues.
The Wildcats agreed to the game quickly and will pay the Red Wolves, who went 8-5 in the Sun Belt last season, $550,000 for playing the game, according to a source.
After that, K-State will take one week off before beginning conference play at Oklahoma on Sept. 26. The Big 12 isn’t making it easy for the Wildcats as they will open league games against the defending conference champion. But K-State did defeat Oklahoma last season at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
That seems like a fun way to begin conference play.
From there, K-State will then play a home game against Texas Tech and travel to TCU before taking another week off and playing Kansas on Oct. 24.
The Wildcats will have three off weeks built into their schedule this season, with the third occurring Nov. 14 after they have played at West Virginia and hosted Oklahoma State.
K-State will close out the season with games at Iowa State and Baylor before hosting Texas in the regular-season finale on Dec. 5.
The Big 12 is planning to hold its championship game on Dec. 12 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. But that game could be delayed multiple weeks if that is required.
Although it is unknown how many fans will be allowed to attend home games at Bill Snyder Family Stadium this season, K-State says it will contact season ticket holders with capacity information and ticket details in the near future.
