Kansas State basketball schedule coming into focus with addition of game vs. KC Roos
Kansas State’s basketball schedule for the 2020-21 season is beginning to come into focus.
One nonconference home game that will be of interest to fans located anywhere between Manhattan and KC was revealed Monday when Jon Rothstein reported that K-State will host the Kansas City Roos — the team formerly known as UMKC — at Bramlage Coliseum at some point next season.
The game will match up the Kangaroos with the Wildcats for the fifth time since 2010. K-State has won four straight against thr Roos and owns an overall record of 18-1 in the series. Its only loss came in 2003 when the Roos hosted K-State at Municipal Auditorium and won by the eye-popping score of 93-52.
A handful of other K-State games are also known for the upcoming season.
One of the most intriguing home games will be played against UNLV on Dec. 5. K-State defeated the Runnin’ Rebels in overtime last season in Las Vegas.
A road game of interest will occur in the Big 12’s new annual challenge with the Big East, as the Wildcats will reportedly play Butler at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse early on next season.
K-State’s other known nonconference games will take place at neutral-court venues. The best of the bunch will potentially come against Nebraska on Dec. 19 at Sprint Center in Kansas City, as the former Big 12 rivals will meet for the first time since the Cornhuskers joined the Big Ten.
The Wildcats are also scheduled to play three games at the Cayman Islands Classic on Thanksgiving week. That early season tournament will feature seven other teams: La Salle, Miami, Nevada, Mississippi, Oregon State, Western Kentucky and Northern Iowa.
