Kansas State wins recruiting battle for Northern Iowa transfer tight end Briley Moore
One of the top available football players on the transfer market has decided to continue his college career at Kansas State.
Briley Moore, a senior tight end from Northern Iowa who will be eligible to play immediately next season as a graduate transfer, committed to the Wildcats with a social media announcement on Friday afternoon.
He chose K-State over Baylor and Missouri.
Moore comes to K-State after previously earning All-Missouri Valley Conference honors as a junior. That was the last time he played a complete season for the Panthers, and he was a go-to target in their offense, catching 36 passes for 536 yards and four touchdowns.
The Wildcats will welcome him into their offense with open arms, as he possesses the body and skills that K-State football coach Chris Klieman loves in a tight end.
At 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, Moore has both the size to block for K-State’s running backs and the hands to catch passes from quarterback Skylar Thompson.
Playing at Bill Snyder Family Stadium will be a homecoming of sorts for Moore, as he is a product of Blue Springs South High.
Several of K-State’s current players are familiar with Moore and celebrated his commitment on social media. Thompson, in particular, sent out a tweet that said he was thrilled to team up with Moore after years of playing against him.
Moore will hope to follow in the footsteps of James Gilbert and Jordon Brown, who joined K-State’s football roster as graduate transfers last season and had big impacts within the offense as running backs.
Moore comes from one of the top FCS programs in the country and Klieman’s alma mater.
K-State didn’t utilize its tight ends much in the passing game last season, as Thompson only completed a combined 17 passes to Nick Lenners and Samuel Wheeler. Perhaps that will change next season with Moore in the mix.
