K-State eliminated from Big 12 baseball tournament by Oklahoma

K-State was eliminated from the Big 12 baseball tournament on Friday night, suffering a tough 3-1 loss to Oklahoma in Tulsa, Okla.

The game was tied 1-1 heading into the ninth inning. But the Sooners, seeded No. 3, scored two runs in the top of the ninth.

K-State reliever Lucas Benenati made two wild pitches in the Sooners’ ninth.

One of the wild pitches allowed a runner — who later scored with what turned out to be the winning run — to move to third, and the other allowed a runner to score from third.

The Wildcats, the No. 6 seed, were unable to answer in the bottom half of the ninth.

K-State starter Corey Fischer gave up two runs in eight-plus innings.

The Wildcats finished the season 27-30.

Oklahoma will face Oklahoma State in the semifinals on Saturday.
