Former Blue Springs standout Elijah Lee records sack in first college game for K-State

K-State freshman Elijah Lee started his college career in the best way possible.

Lee sacked Stephen F. Austin quarterback Zach Conque for a three-yard loss on his first play Saturday in the 20th-ranked Wildcats’ 55-16 victory.

Lee, a former Blue Springs standout, was one of two freshmen to crack the depth chart this week. He saw extended playing time Saturday on third downs as a pass-rush specialist.

New punt returner

K-State senior receiver Curry Sexton returned punts on Saturday, despite Tyler Lockett appearing as the primary punt returner on the depth chart.

In attendance

NFL scouts from the Chiefs, Washington and Jacksonville watched Saturday’s game from the press box. So did former K-State assistant basketball coach and current Stephen F. Austin coach Brad Underwood. Underwood took the Lumberjacks to round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament in his first year with the team.
