Kansas State’s Jevon Thomas, Nino Williams expected back for Big 12 Tournament
Jevon Thomas is again a member of the Kansas State basketball team, Wildcats coach Bruce Weber said Monday.
“At this point, we are going to be at full strength with our team, barring anything crazy happening over these next two days,” Weber said on the Big 12 coaches teleconference. “I hope we have a full-strength team on our hands Wednesday night.”
K-State plays TCU at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the first game of the Big 12 Tournament at the Sprint Center. The winner plays top-seeded Kansas in a quarterfinal around 2 p.m. Thursday.
Thomas, a sophomore point guard, did not travel with K-State for its last game, a 62-49 loss at Texas, for undisclosed reasons. On Saturday, Weber said he dismissed Thomas from the team, but he left the door open for his return.
“He has to stay focused and do what he is supposed to be doing,” Weber said Saturday of Thomas. “If he wants to come back to the team, he has got to come talk to us and we will make a decision.”
Senior forward Nino Williams has also rejoined the team after missing Saturday’s game for personal reasons.
Williams is the team’s second-leading scorer, averaging 11.3 points and 5.2 rebounds. Thomas is averaging 4.5 points and 3.3 assists. Both are usually starters.
