There are several career coaching victory lists for college football, with rankings that include major college programs only, coaches who have lead programs in different classifications and so on.

But what is known for certain is that Kansas State’s Bill Snyder collected his 200th career victory when the Wildcats beat Kansas 34-19 on Saturday.

Snyder, in his 25th season, is first in career major college victories among active coaches, and he’s the fifth coach who worked at only one major school to win at least 200 games, joining Penn State’s Joe Paterno (409), BYU’s LaVell Edwards (257), Nebraska’s Tom Osborne (255) and Georgia’s Vince Dooley (201).

That No. 200 was notched against the Jayhawks was fitting. Kansas and Iowa State have been Snyder’s victims more than any program. Snyder is 21-4 against each school.

Next on the list of most defeated programs by Snyder-coached teams are Missouri (15) and Oklahoma State (11).

Before Bill Snyder arrived, it took from 1921 until 1988 for Kansas State to amass 200 football victories. The Wildcats won one conference championship (1934), won more than seven games one time (1931) and appeared in one bowl game (1982) in that span.

In 25 seasons, Snyder has won two Big 12 championships (2003 and 2012), appeared in 17 bowl games (and has qualified for an 18th) and won more than seven games 14 times (with a chance to win an eighth game this season).
