Kansas State football team announces several nonconference football games through 2020

Kansas State and Buffalo have agreed to play a football game in 2020 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

The game will take place on Sept. 5, 2020, with the Wildcats paying the Bulls $900,000 for the trip, according to a copy of the game’s contract obtained by the website FBschedules.com.

The $900,000 payment matches the highest guarantee figure in K-State football history. The Wildcats paid the same amount to Texas-El Paso this past season in order to add them late to the schedule.

Buffalo is coming off a 5-6 season (a game with Kent State was canceled) in which it placed third in the Mid-American Conference’s East Division. It played one Big 12 team, losing 63-21 to Baylor.

The addition of Buffalo gives K-State two nonconference games for the 2020 season — the other will reportedly be a home game vs. Vanderbilt — and one open slot to fill.

K-State also has open nonconference dates remaining in 2016, 2018 and 2019. The Wildcats are hoping to add another guarantee game at home in 2016, and will likely try to do the same in 2018 and 2019 with games against Mississippi State already lined up for those seasons.
