Big 12 adds six teams for wrestling tournament at Sprint Center

The Big 12 has more than doubled its membership for its conference wrestling tournament.

Air Force, Northern Colorado, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Utah Valley and Wyoming will compete in the Big 12 event as affiliate members on March 5-6 at the Sprint Center.

Those schools will join four Big 12 members that sponsor wrestling: Iowa State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and West Virginia.

The championship at the Sprint Center will mark the first off-campus wrestling tournament for the Big 12 since 2005.

The league also added an affiliate member for gymnastics. Denver will compete with Iowa State, Oklahoma and West Virginia at the Big 12 gymnastics meet on March 19 at Frisco, Texas.
