The Big 12 has fined Texas Tech $25,000 for its handling of the postgame court-storming after the Red Raiders’ victory over then-No. 2 West Virginia in Lubbock on Saturday.

“We have to provide a safe game environment,” Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said in a statement. “The Texas Tech Department of Athletics has a written event management policy which was unsuccessful in ensuring the safety and security of the visiting team game participants.”

The Big 12 doesn’t have a policy that prohibits fans from storming the court.

The conference also issued a public reprimand to West Virginia’s Wesley Harris for striking a fan during the court-storming.
