Baker beats football rival MidAmerica Nazarene

Baker came out on top in a Heart of America Athletic Conference game against rival MidAmerica Nazarene.

Baker, ranked fourth in NAIA, scored a couple of late touchdowns and pulled away for a 38-19 home victory.

Adonis Powell ran for 122 yards and a score for the Wildcats, and Baker quarterback Nick Marra threw for 261 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

Baker improved to 7-1 overall and is 1-1 in the HAAC.

MidAmerica Nazarene, which fell to 1-1 in conference and 3-5 overall, got 94 receiving yards from Wesley Foryoh.

▪ AT NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE 45, FORT HAYS STATE 20: Northwest Missouri rolled over Fort Hays State on homecoming weekend to improve to 8-0 on the season. The Bearcats took a 35-point lead into halftime and didn’t look back. Brady Bolles threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns for the Bearcats, and Phil Jackson ran for 150 yards and two scores. Fort Hays quarterback Treveon Albert had 160 total yards and two touchdowns.

▪ PITTSBURG STATE 24, AT NEBRASKA-KEARNEY 19: Pittsburg State kept Nebraska-Kearney winless on the season. The defense allowed just 264 yards in a low-scoring affair. The Gorilla offense mustered just enough to win, led by 59 rushing yards and a touchdown from Michael Rose.

▪ AT CENTRAL MISSOURI 54, NORTHEASTERN (OKLA.) ST. 10: Markel Smith ran for 148 yards and a touchdown in 21 carries for the Mules. Garrett Fugate threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns for Central Missouri.

▪ AT SOUTH DAKOTA 40, MISSOURI STATE 10: Missouri State’s lone touchdown came on Deion Holloman’s 100-yard kickoff return. Jason Randall had 77 rushing yards on 10 carries.

▪ AT EMPORIA STATE 17, MISSOURI WESTERN 3: Emporia State came within 28 seconds of pitching a shutout. Brent Wilson threw for 274 yards and two touchdowns for the Hornets, while Denzel Strong rushed for 88 yards. Emporia State got 83 yards on three catches from Brandynn Clark.

▪ CENTRAL OKLAHOMA 38, AT WASHBURN 27: Washburn fell to 4-4 after losing at home to Central Oklahoma. Brandon Bourbon paced the Ichabods offense with 136 rushing yards and a touchdown. Hayden Groves ran for 93 yards and a score as well for Washburn.

▪ AT BENEDICTINE 24, GRACELAND 16: Benedictine got a fourth-quarter touchdown to squeak past Graceland. Jacob Koester threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns. Both scoring passes when to Christian Haack, who finished with 119 yards on seven catches for the Ravens.

▪ TRUMAN STATE 40, AT WILLIAM JEWELL 28: Truman State used a quick start to snap Jewell’s three-game winning streak. Andy Satulla ran for 124 yards and three touchdowns. Randy Schroeder threw for 258 yards and a score. Jewell was led by Nick West, who had 393 passing yards and four touchdowns. Anthony Mullins caught nine passes for 188 yards and two scores.

▪ LINDENWOOD 34, AT MISSOURI SOUTHERN 30: Lindenwood put together a late rally to push past Missouri Southern. Southern quarterback T.J Fleeton threw for 368 yards and a score. Will Gregory ran for 126 yards and a touchdown.

▪ AT MISSOURI VALLEY 48, AVILA 30: Avila briefly fought back from an early deficit before Missouri Valley pulled away down the stretch. The Vikings rolled up 602 yards of offense, led by 319 rushing yards and three touchdowns from Elliott Hawkins. Avila’s Alyn Jackson ran for 123 yards and a touchdown.

▪ AT STERLING 31, OTTAWA 24: Ottawa didn’t have enough offense to generate a comeback at Sterling. Tanner Staats ran for 110 yards for Ottawa, while Tim Morovik had 255 passing yards and a touchdown, but also two interceptions.

▪ SAINT JOSEPH’S (IND.) 24 AT SOUTHWEST BAPTIST 23: St. Josephs’s took the lead midway through the fourth quarter, and Southwest Baptist couldn’t answer. Bubba Jenkins rushed for 160 yards and two scores. for Southwest Baptist. Jenkins got the Bearcats in position to take the lead in the fourth quarter, but Saint Joseph’s forced and recovered a fumble. Trent Edwards threw for 241 yards and a touchdown. Nathan Mourik had 162 receiving yards and a touchdown on just six catches.

▪ AT MISSOURI S&T 34, MCKENDREE 27: The Miners rallied from an early 14-point hole to pull past McKendree. Dalton Major ran for 144 yards and a touchdown. Lamar Wilkes threw for 211 and a score. Braxton Graham caught four passes for 106 yards and a touchdown.

▪ AT SAINT MARY 41, MCPHERSON 3: The Saint Mary defense allowed just 162 yards. Drew Cortez threw for 299 yards and two scores for Saint Mary, while Cole Williams caught 11 passes for 117 yards.

▪ INDIANAPOLIS 41, AT LINCOLN 18: Lincoln didn’t have an answer for Indianapolis. Lincoln quarterback Owen Jordan led the offense with 106 passing yards and a touchdown. Dominique Bell ran for 58 yards.
