Northwest’s Longacre, Pitt State’s Abenoja lead all-MIAA football team
Northwest Missouri defensive end Matt Longacre was chosen defensive player of the year for the second straight season and Pittsburg State quarterback Anthony Abenoja was chosen offensive player of the year as the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its all-conference football team Tuesday.
Longacre’s Bearcats and Abenoja’s Gorillas, who tied for the MIAA title with 10-1 records, each placed eight players on the all-MIAA first team. Pittsburg State’s Tim Beck was chosen coach of the year, Pitt State kicker Connor Frazell was special teams player of the year and Central Oklahoma QB Chas Stallard was freshman of the year.
