Fall Classic college football game moved from Arrowhead to Maryville

Some 48 hours before kickoff, Northwest Missouri State and Washburn changed the venue of their Division II college football game.

The Fall Classic, scheduled to kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday in Arrowhead Stadium, will now be played at Bearcat Stadium at Northwest Missouri in Maryville and will kick at 1 p.m.

The forecast of snow on Saturday, the day before the Chiefs-Seahawks game at Arrowhead, prompted the move.

The Chiefs consulted with the NFL and the team said the grounds crew “strongly suggested eliminating any activity on the field prior to the game on Sunday,” according to a release issued by the Chiefs.

The field at Arrowhead will remained covered on Saturday.

Tickets sold for the game at Arrowhead will be refunded at the point of purchase. Tickets for Saturday’s game in Maryville are $15, with no charge to students.

This was to be the 13th Fall Classic at Arrowhead Stadium, and the first that didn’t involve the Bearcats playing Pittsburg State. The Gorillas pulled out of the neutral-site game this year with Washburn stepping in.
