Kansas State picked to finish seventh in Big 12, Kansas predicted to end up 10th
Media representatives who cover the Big 12 are expecting the Kansas State football team to slip this season.
For the first time, TCU was picked as the favorite to win the conference title in the preseason poll, which is voted on by media representatives who cover the league.
The Horned Frogs received 32 of the 42 possible first-place votes and had 408 points. Baylor got the other 10 first-place votes and had 384 points. TCU and Baylor tied for the Big 12 title last year.
Kansas State was third in the Big 12 last year, but the Wildcats are predicted to finish seventh, behind Oklahoma (third), Oklahoma State (fourth), Texas (fifth) and West Virginia.
Texas Tech was picked eighth, followed Iowa State and Kansas. The Jayhawks will be playing their first season under new coach David Beaty.
Last year, Oklahoma was picked to win the league title, but the Sooners finished tied for fourth.
