Rockhurst men reach soccer semifinal in KC, Central Missouri women look to get there

Rockhurst University is headed back to the NCAA Division II men’s soccer semifinals, and the Central Missouri women continue their quest for the same spot on the bracket on Sunday.

The Hawks are headed to Kansas City. The Jennies are hoping to get there.

Rockhurst (16-2-2) defeated Northeastern State (Okla.) 1-0 in the Super Region 2 championship game in Philippi, W.Va., on Saturday to reach the final four for the fourth time in five years.

The Division II men’s and women’s championships will be contested at Swope Soccer Village. The semifinal games will be played on Nov. 30. The title games on Dec. 2.

Saturday, Kaleb Jackson scored the game’s lone goal 16 seconds into overtime with an assist from Adam Michel. It was Jackson’s team-leading 13th goal of the season for Rockhurst.

Logan Feldmann stopped two shots and posted his 11th shutout of the season.

Rockhurst reached the semifinals at Swope last year, falling to Charleston, W.Va.

Central Missouri (23-0) faces Grand Valley State (Mich.) on Sunday at 1 p.m., in Warrensburg, Mo., in a quarterfinal game.

The Jennies defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State 3-0 on Friday to reach the NCAA quarterfinals for the fourth straight year. Central Missouri posted its 20th shutout of the year.
