Three players with Kansas City area ties will try out for the USA Basketball U-19 World Cup team that will compete in Egypt next month.
Kansas guard Charlie Moore, Missouri forward Jeremiah Tilmon and former Bishop Miege forward Bol Bol are among 28 players who will attend training camp from June 18-25 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
To be eligible, players must be U.S. citizens born in 1998 or later. The United States will be looking for its third straight gold medal when it takes part in the FIBA U-19 World Championship from July 1-9 in Cairo, Egypt.
The 12-person team, which will be coached by Kentucky’s John Calipari and assisted by Tad Boyle (Colorado) and Danny Manning (Wake Forest), is expected to be announced June 22.
