Northwest Missouri Bearcats come up short in NCAA Division II regional final
Northwest Missouri fell short in its bid to reach the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.
The Bearcats’ season came to an end Tuesday night with a 47-42 loss to Minnesota State-Moorhead in the Division II Central Region title game in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Grant Cozad led the way for the Bearcats with 15 points, and Justin Pitts scored 14 points.
Northwest Missouri, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association regular-season champion, finished the season 25-8.
Junior college tournaments
▪ The Johnson County women won their NJCAA Division II first-round game 71-64 over Southeast (Neb.) CC.
The third-seeded and host Cavaliers advanced to the quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
▪ The Penn Valley men lost to third-seeded Richard Bland (Va.) 87-76 in the first round of the NJCAA Division II men’s basketball tournament in Danville, Ill.
