Aaron Siebenthall is the new men’s basketball coach at Ottawa University.

Siebenthall, who had been the Braves’ associate head coach, replaces Andy Carrier, who retired Tuesday after 25 seasons.

Carrier, who coached Ottawa to a school-record 325 career victories, including a program-high 24 in 2008, led the Braves to five NAIA Division II tournaments and three Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships.

Siebenthall was a practice player for the Kansas women’s basketball team and previously was an assistant and head junior-varsity boys’ basketball coach at Lawrence High. He also teaches at Ottawa’s school of education. He started coaching at Ottawa in 2006.
