Fort Hays State’s Kate Lehman, Pittsburg State’s Lizzy Jeronimus lead all-MIAA women’s basketball team

Fort Hays State’s Kate Lehman won player and defensive player of the year honors as the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its all-conference women’s basketball teams Tuesday.

Lehman helped the Tigers to a regular-season championship while leading the MIAA in field-goal percentage, offensive rebounds and blocked shots. She was second in scoring at 19.2 points per game.

Her coach, Tony Hobson won coach of the year honors.

Lehman was joined on the first team by Pittsburg State’s Lizzy Jeronimus, Emporia State’s Merissa Quick and Kelly Moten, Missouri Western’s LaQuinta Jefferson, the MIAA regular-season scoring leader at 20.7 points and Central Missouri’s Shelby Winkelmann. There were six first-team players because of a tie in the voting.

Jeronimus is a four-time first-team selection and Lehman made the first team in three of her four years.
