Rockhurst men advance to NCAA Division II soccer semifinals
Rockhurst is returning to the NCAA Division II men’s soccer semifinals.
The Hawks earned their third trip to the national semis in the last four years with a 1-0 win over Fort Hays State in the Super Region 2 championship game Sunday at the Fort Hays State University Soccer Stadium in Hays, Kan.
Junior forward Kaleb Jackson scored for Rockhurst in the second half. He chipped the ball over Fort Hays State goalkeeper Michael Yantz from just inside the 18-yard box in the 49th minute. Adam Michel and Sal Caruso were credited with assists on the goal.
Rockhurst’s Logan Feldmann stopped seven shots in his 11th shutout of the season.
The Hawks, 18-2-3, will face Charleston (W.Va.) in the national semifinals at 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at Children’s Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village.
Central Missouri women fall in quarterfinals
Central Missouri allowed a season high in goals in its 3-1 loss to Grand Valley State in the NCAA Division II women’s quarterfinals Sunday in Allendale, Mich.
Hannah Pyle scored in the 66th minute for the Jennies’ only goal. Marti Corby, Gabriella Mencotti and Jayme Martin scored for the Lakers.
Central Missouri finished its season 21-2.
