Watch: Former Missouri wrestling champion Ben Askren stars in delightful ‘Hello’ parody
By Tod Palmer
Former Missouri wrestler turned MMA champion Ben Askren starred in a parody video of Adele’s “Hello,” where he makes a pitch for inclusion in UFC.
It. Is. Glorious.
Askren, 31, is a former Bellator welterweight champion who holds the One Championship welterweight title. He is internationally recognized as a top-10 fighter in his weight class, but he has been shut out of the sport’s most visible and lucrative circuit because of an ongoing feud with UFC president Dana White.
In the video, which was shot for the Eighth Annual World MMA Awards, Askren wonders if he’ll make the UFC and implores White to pick up the phone, while apologizing for calling him dumb among other things.
Glorious, right? You’re welcome.
Here was the original tweet from Askren, who won NCAA titles for the Tigers in 2006 and 2007 and wrestled for the U.S. at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
My much awaited singing debut!https://t.co/HmauFHwWn6 https://t.co/gUemSyH40D
