NCAA clears Central Florida’s 7-foot-6 recruit Tacko Fall to play

Central Florida says the NCAA has cleared 7-foot-6 Senegalese freshman Tacko Fall to play.

The school said Friday it received word from the governing body a day before the Knights open their season at Davidson.

Fall’s eligibility was in doubt after the NCAA stopped him from participating in practices while it reviewed his academic record.

Fall graduated from Liberty Christian Prep School in Tavares, Florida, this past spring and has been enrolled at UCF since June. The prep school said Thursday it was informed by the NCAA in April 2014 that information on Fall’s records revealed no immediate issues. Only recently had the NCAA requested additional records.

Earlier this week, UCF filed for an academic waiver with the NCAA to allow Fall to play.
