College basketball: It’s opening night
Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State all open their seasons tonight at home.
Flush with freshmen talent, the Tigers embark on their first season under coach Kim Anderson by playing host to UMKC at 8 p.m. at Mizzou Arena, (No TV, online via SEC Network Plus; Radio: KMBZ, 980 AM).
In Lawrence, the No. 5 Jayhawks are hoping to get back to the stifling type of defense that made their guard play among the best in the country. 7 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse (TV: Time Warner Cable SportsChannel; Radio: KCSP, 610 AM)
In Manhattan, the Wildcats are eager to erase sour memories of last season’s opening night, when they lost a shocker to Northern Colorado. 8 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum (TV: FSKC; Radio: WHB, 810 AM)
