Commanders Identified as Possible Landing Spot for 4-Time Pro Bowl WR

The Washington Commanders are looking to get back to playoff contention with third-year quarterback Jayden Daniels leading the offense. However, the 25-year-old will be working with a different-looking wide receiver group.

The offense lost multiple key veterans, including Deebo Samuel, who currently sits in free agency. Samuel led the team in targets (99), receptions (72), yards (727) and touchdowns (five) last season.

With the Commanders' OTAs having passed and mandatory minicamp beginning on Tuesday, Dan Quinn and his staff will get a closer look at what they're working with. ESPN's John Keim notes that Washington could still look toward an outside option like Stefon Diggs.

"The Commanders do seem to like their receiver room -- even if there are question marks -- though that doesn't mean they wouldn't potentially add a player such as Brandon Aiyuk or Stefon Diggs," Keim wrote.

Diggs was effective last season for the New England Patriots and was a big piece to their Super Bowl run. The four-time Pro Bowler started all 17 regular-season games, accumulating 85 receptions (led the team) for 1,013 yards (led the team) and four touchdowns.

The 32-year-old has proved to be a consistent option since making his debut in 2015. He has appeared in at least 14 games in eight of the last nine seasons and eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards seven different times.

Even after tearing his ACL with the Houston Texans in 2024, he bounced back with the Patriots and served as the No. 1 option for quarterback Drake Maye. He's a reliable target that a young quarterback like Daniels could benefit from.

He'd be an affordable option for the Commanders as well. Spotrac projects that Diggs' market value will earn him a two-year, $27.6 million contract. With $43.9 million in available cap space, Washington has enough flexibility to bring the former Maryland Terrapin in.
