Sprinter Jemma Stapleton Dead At 25 After Family Vacation Accident
Australian sprinter Jemma Stapleton passed away this week while on a family vacation in Thailand. She was only 25 years old.
It's been sadly reported by multiple outlets that Stapleton was involved in a motorcycle accident near Koh Samui, one of the largest islands Thailand has to offer. Although the cause of the crash hasn't been confirmed, inclement weather conditions may have played a factor.
Stapleton's younger brother, Joel, shared a heartfelt statement regarding his sister and the impact she made on him.
"I'm so lucky to have had her guiding me through my first 21 years," Joel told the Australian Broadcasting Company. "For those that knew her, you know how lucky you were to have her in your life. Her smile was so bright that wherever she went, you knew she was there. I'm so grateful that I can call her my sister."
Stapleton's partner Tyler, meanwhile, posted this heartbreaking message on social media: "I can't put into words the hurt I am feeling. You are the single greatest thing to happen to me and I am so grateful for the love we shared. I love you with all my heart and I will never stop."
A GoFundMe page has been created for the Stapleton family to help them handle the "financial pressure" at this time.
"It is with great sadness that our beautiful friends the Stapleton family are facing the unmeasurable grief while on a family holiday with the passing of their beautiful daughter, sister and partner Jemma," the GoFundMe stated. "This go fund me has been set up ( and approved by the family) to help ease a bit of pressure financially for the family so they can grieve together and spend as much time together as possible to get through and navigate this impossible loss."
Our thoughts are with Stapleton's friends and family members.
