Jaguars Got a Steal in the NFL Offseason

The Jacksonville Jaguars had a strong 2025 season and rounded out the year with a 13-4 record and as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. It’s great to see the strides this team has made in just a short amount of time.

Now, the Jags are getting praise for having one of the steals of the NFL offseason.

In a feature published on Wednesday, May 27, Mike Sando of The Athletic names his favorite moves for each NFL franchise during the league’s offseason.

“With most major NFL offseason moves complete, it’s a good time to single out a favorite move for each team,” he says in the feature. “This exercise is always easier for some teams than for others, so some of these ‘favorites’ are relative to what’s available.”

For the Jags, he loves their signing of running back Chris Rodriguez “on the cheap.”

“We’re reaching a bit after an offseason in which the Jaguars lost more established talent than they added, but Rodriguez should fill some of the void at running back after Travis Etienne’s departure to New Orleans in free agency,” he states of the move. “He started seven games for Washington last season and averaged 4.5 yards per carry on 112 attempts.”

Signing Rodriguez was a strong move for the Jags, and he’s a productive player who should pay off come September. During the 2025 season with Washington, he had 15 rushes from 13 personnel, and it’s numbers like those that made him a star on a discount for the Jags.
