Caitlin Clark Sends Message After Exchange with Fever Coach Stephanie White
Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White are in their third year together as part of one of the most star-studded duos in the WNBA. Despite their success together during that time, the two had a dispute during Indiana's 100-84 loss against the Portland Fire on Saturday.
During a timeout against the Fire, Clark and White had a heated exchange on the bench, and the video went viral online, with some fans believing that the relationship between the player and coach had soured.
Since White came back to be the Fever's head coach before the 2025 season, Indiana has gone 28-24.
On Monday, Clark spoke to reporters about the exchange that she had with White two days before, playing down the fact that their relationship is not good.
"First of all, two people being competitive," Clark said, per WISH News on X. "Two people that really want to win. I think a lot of those things happen all the time. There's a lot of people out there in the media or on TV that they think they know a lot of things, and they're just blatantly wrong. I ride for Steph, I ride for these girls. Steph has my back more than anybody."

Clark and White's relationship is clearly okay, as one heated moment during a loss does not define the two's partnership.
So far this season, the Fever have a 4-4 record, and Clark has played in seven of those games. In that time, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year has scored 20.1 points per contest to go along with 4.0 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 1.3 steals.
The two-time All-Star and her head coach will be back on the court together on Thursday when the Fever take on the Atlanta Dream. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and can be seen on Prime Video.
