Stephanie White Presents Solution for Indiana Fever's Problem

Three-point shooting has been one of the biggest issues for the Indiana Fever this season. Stephanie White discussed her solution for fixing it.

Reporters asked the head coach on Saturday about Indiana shooting poorly from beyond the arc. The Fever suffered a 100-84 loss to the Portland Fire after shooting 5-for-22 from three.

White stressed that more practice will be key in addressing it. She added that her team sees good looks, and it's just a matter of time before the players convert more attempts.

"I don't think we've shot the three-ball particularly well all season," White said. "I think it's just reps. Our players are in the gym and they're getting repetitions. It's about finding your open teammate on time and delivering the ball on target. I feel like, oftentimes, when we're hitting them, it's maybe one or two dribbles too late.

"Sometimes players are having to reach all over the place for the ball. Other times, we're getting good looks and just not knocking them down. I think that's something that's going to come."

White also highlighted that she wants to see the Fever attack the paint more aggressively to produce open shots from kick-outs.

"But I'd like to see us, early in games, get to the rim a little bit more and create some opportunities in the paint and at the free-throw line," White said. "Then, when the defense collapses, we can generate those uncontested looks from the outside."

Indiana is now 4-4 and will have to get back on track as quickly as possible. The upcoming schedule is challenging, as they will face the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Dream on Thursday before starting a two-game road trip.

It remains to be seen how the Fever will respond to a two-game losing streak, but White appears to have a plan in place.
