Dodgers' Max Muncy Shares Concerning Update After 13th Home Run

The Los Angeles Dodgers are rolling, winners of six straight and top the National League West at 37-20. Back in the middle of the lineup is third baseman Max Muncy, who returned from a wrist scare that cost him four straight starts. He has now offered an update on his status, per Blake Williams of DodgerBlue.com.

Muncy, 35, has been one of the Dodgers' potent power bats, tied with Andy Pages for the team home lead with 13 homers, followed by a .253 batting average, 20 RBIs and 26 walks.

The slugging third baseman is not all the way back, though. Muncy said his right wrist is still hurting, but that he will continue to play through the pain, per Williams.

The injury dates back to May 22, when Muncy was hit by a 95.5 mph sinker from Brewers reliever Aaron Ashby in the eighth inning of a 5-1 loss in Milwaukee. X-rays came back negative for a fracture, but Muncy was sidelined for four straight games before returning on May 26 as a ninth-inning defensive replacement in the Dodgers' 15-6 win over the Colorado Rockies.

Muncy returned to a starting spot in the Dodgers lineup on Wednesday and has played in the last two games, going for a combined 1-for-5 with a home run and RBI. It was after Friday night's 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies that Muncy shared that the wrist still bothers him.

How he holds up matters for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have run into a few injury problems this season. Muncy has cooled to a .203 batting average in May, and whether his wrist is a part of the issue is worth monitoring as the Dodgers move through their homestand.
