Caitlin Clark Loses Exclusive WNBA Spot After New York Liberty Game
Caitlin Clark's place alone on the 2026 season leaders did not last long on Wednesday night.
After the New York Liberty defeated the Phoenix Mercury, Liberty guard Marine Johannes joined the Indiana Fever superstar in an exclusive statistical category that previously belonged only to Clark this season.
Johannes exploded for one of the best shooting performances of the 2026 WNBA season, finishing with 21 points, five assists, two steals and a career-high seven made three-pointers against Phoenix.
According to StatMuse, Johannes became just the second player this season to hit at least seven three-pointers in a game, joining Clark.
That meant Clark officially lost her exclusive spot as the lone WNBA player to accomplish the feat during the 2026 campaign.

Marine Johannes Delivers Career Night for Liberty
Johannes has built a reputation as one of the most creative offensive guards in the league, and Wednesday's performance showed exactly why.
The French star repeatedly stretched Phoenix's defense with deep shooting while also creating opportunities for teammates throughout the Liberty's 84-74 victory.
Johannes finished with seven made threes, setting a new career high in the process. The performance immediately generated buzz across social media, especially after StatMuse highlighted the connection between Johannès and Clark.
Nicknamed "the Wizard" because of her flashy style of play, Johannes has become a fan favorite during her time with New York. The Liberty guard has also enjoyed an accomplished international career with France, including Olympic silver and bronze medals.
Caitlin Clark Still Setting the Standard From Deep
Even with Johannes joining the club, Clark remains one of the league's most dangerous perimeter scorers.
The Fever star has consistently rewritten expectations for long-range shooting since entering the WNBA and continues to draw defensive attention unlike almost any player in the sport.
Clark's ability to hit difficult shots from well beyond the arc has become one of the defining storylines of the WNBA's growth over the last two seasons.
Her seven-three performance earlier this year initially made her the only player in the league to reach that mark during the 2026 season.
Now, Johannès has officially matched it.
Liberty Continue Looking Dangerous in Eastern Conference
The milestone performance also came at an important moment for New York.
The Liberty entered Wednesday's matchup trying to stop a three-game losing streak, and Johannès helped provide the offensive spark the team desperately needed.
Breanna Stewart added 11 points and six rebounds in the victory as New York improved to 4-4 on the season.
With stars like Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Johannes capable of erupting offensively on any given night, the Liberty remain one of the most dangerous teams in the WNBA despite their inconsistent start.
And after Wednesday night, Johannes officially shares a rare spot with Caitlin Clark in the 2026 season record books, for now.
