Concordia shuts down Irish at Regional
CONCORDIA – The Concordia Panthers scored four runs in the first inning enroute to a 10-0 win over the Chapman Fighting Irish baseball team Tuesday at the Class 4A Regional in Concordia.
The Panthers added a run in the second and five more in the fourth for the five-inning victory.
Boone Richard went three for three at the plate, including two triples and a double and drove in a run for the Panthers. Kaden Williams drove in two Concordia runs with a hit.
Benson Smiley opened the game on the hill for the Irish allowing seven runs, three earned, on five hits. He struck out one and walked one in his three and one-third innings of work. Aven Woods tossed the final two-thirds allowing two earned runs on one hit while walking two.
Woods led the Irish with a pair of doubles while Austin Smiley and Henry Corn also had hits for the Irish.
Chane Parker earned the win for Concordia shutting out the Irish on four hits, walking three and striking out three.
Chapman ended the season 9-16 while Concordia advanced to the Class 4A State Tournament after defeating Lyons 7-6 in walk off fashion in the Championship game.
