Brewers Place Logan Henderson on IL With Back Strain

A day after one Milwaukee Brewers pitcher made MLB history, another promising young arm is being placed on the 15-Day IL due to a lower back strain.

The team announced that right-handed starter Logan Henderson will miss at least the next couple of weeks due to a lingering back injury. Henderson's placement on the IL is retroactive to May 23rd, so he will be eligible to return as early as June 7th, though the Brewers are currently anticipating a mid-June return.

Henderson first injured his back in his most recent start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 22nd. The 24-year-old picked up his second win of the season, throwing five scoreless innings and allowing just a pair of hits while striking out seven. After the game, Henderson revealed that he was suffering from lower back tightness at the start but was able to stay in the game. At the time, Henderson did not believe the injury to be serious.

When asked earlier this week, Brewers Manager Pat Murphy said that he thought "there was reason for concern" about Henderson's injury, who is no stranger to lengthy absences. Henderson missed the last couple of months in 2025 due to inflammation in his right elbow, and earlier in his career, he had a fracture in that same elbow.

Henderson has been a key part of what has emerged as one of the best starting rotations in baseball. On Monday, ace Jacob Misiorowski shattered the MLB record for most pitches in a single game over 100 mph with 57. Kyle Harrison was once a highly-touted prospect who has been yet another reclamation project for the team. This group currently sits third in MLB behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves in starter ERA, with a combined average of 3.19.

In a corresponding move, the Brewers recalled Coleman Crow from Triple-A Nashville. Crow last pitched on Sunday, so there is a strong likelihood he could get the start on Wednesday for the Brewers' game at home against the St. Louis Cardinals.
