Dodgers Facing Decision After Max Muncy News
The Los Angeles Dodgers enter the final weeks of May at 31-20, one of the better records in the National League, but the team has been no stranger to injuries. The latest concern centers on third base, where Max Muncy's right wrist injury is now threatening to stretch into next week.
Per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, manager Dave Roberts said Monday is no longer a realistic return date for Max Muncy. The best-case scenario is that he starts swinging the bat once the swelling in his wrist goes down.
However, if the swelling doesn't go down, the Dodgers figure to place Muncy on the injured list and backdate it.

Muncy was hit by a 95.5 mph sinker from Brewers reliever Aaron Ashby in the eighth inning of Friday's 5-1 loss in Milwaukee. He exited the game immediately and has not appeared in the lineup since. Initial x-rays were negative, ruling out a fracture, but Muncy remained sore Saturday, is out of the lineup Sunday and will be out Monday as well.
Muncy has had a great couple of months into the 2026 season, batting .258 with 12 home runs, 19 RBI and an .878 OPS in 48 games.
The Dodgers do have immediate coverage at third base as Kiké Hernandez is set to be activated from the 60-day IL on Monday after completing his final rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday. The veteran utility man has not made an appearance for the Dodgers in 2026, following offseason left elbow surgery.
Muncy leads the team with 12 home runs and a .515 slugging percentage this season. Losing him for an extended stretch would be a major blow to the Dodgers's offense that has leaned on his production all year.
