Michigan State's Jeremy Fears Jr. Sees His Draft Stock Rising at NBA Combine

Even though Michigan State University basketball standout Jeremy Fears Jr. is expected to return to Tom Izzo and the Spartans for the 2026-27 season, he’s showing off what he can do at the NBA Draft Combine this week, and his performance is impressive.

Now, don’t worry too much, Spartan nation. Fears Jr. is still projected to stay with the Spartans next season. But, it’s worth noting that Fears’ draft stock is going up, not down, following his combine appearance.

On, Tuesday, May 12, Fears’ combine measurements were released. They were quite good and should bring up his NBA chances, if he decides to go that route. (Please don’t, Jeremy.)

While some scouts had been concerned about Fears’ height going into the draft, on Tuesday, he measured 6 feet tall without shoes. His wingspan was stellar at 6 feet and 4 inches, and he also came in at 196.2 pounds.

Then, on Wednesday, May 13, things got even better for Fears. During the first NBA Draft Combine scrimmage, Fears rounded out the contest with 17 points and five assists and was 1-for-2 on three-pointers. NBA analysts took note, and NBA reporter Brett Siegel named him one of the “biggest winners” of the NBA Draft Combine.

With Fears’ measurements being stronger than expected and his strong showing in the scrimmage, there really isn’t a question that he’ll have a home in the NBA if he decides to give it a try, whether it’s this year or next.

Will Jeremy Fears Jr. Leave MSU This Year? Probably Not

As a Spartan, it’s certainly nerve-racking to think that Fears could bail this year. Without this All-American, who was No. 1 in the NCAA in assists per game last season, there’s little hope for real run for the Spartans at the championship next season.

But, the good news is that Fears, even with this stellar NBA Combine showing, is still expected to return to MSU, where he can make more big this year and then have an even better number in the draft in 2027. His NIL deals are likely at least $1-2 million, so there’s no reason for Fears to jump ship from East Lansing quite yet.
