Knicks Make NBA Playoff History in First Quarter vs 76ers
The New York Knicks were phenomenal from behind the 3-point line in the first quarter of Sunday afternoon’s Game 4 matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.
New York connected on 11 of its 13 attempts from three, tying the most makes in a single quarter in NBA playoff history. This milestone also marks the most makes in a postseason first quarter by any team in the play-by-play era.
“THE KNICKS HIT 11 THREES IN Q1,” the NBA wrote on social media. “11 3PM is the most in a first quarter in a postseason game by any team in the play-by-play era! New York up 21 in Game 4.”
Miles McBride led the way on 4/4 shooting from behind the 3-point arc. Jalen Brunson went 3/4, Landry Shamet went 2/3, Josh Hart went 1/2 and Karl-Anthony Towns went 1/1. Shamet had an attempt to set the all-time single-quarter record at the buzzer, but his shot missed off the back iron.
With this historic 3-point shooting performance, the Knicks took a commanding lead, which ultimately translated to a sweep of Philadelphia with the score of 144-114 after the fourth quarter.

The Knicks entered Game 4 with a 3-0 lead in their second-round playoff series against the 76ers. New York shot 51.4% from 3-point range in Game 1, 26.9% in Game 2 and 33.3% in Game 3.

As the Knicks closed things out with a sweep in Game 4, they’re moving on to face off against the winner of the Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers series. The No. 1 seed Pistons lead that series 2-1 heading into Game 4 in Cleveland.
