Spurs star Victor Wembanyama ejected for flagrant foul after elbowing Timberwolves' Naz Reid

MINNEAPOLIS - San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama was ejected after throwing an elbow that hit Minnesota Timberwolves forward Naz Reid in the chin.

The teams were in the second quarter of Game 4 of their best-of-seven NBA playoff series at Target Center on Sunday night.

Officials reviewed the play and upgraded Wembanyama's foul to a flagrant foul 2, triggering an automatic ejection.

The 7-4 Wembanyama grabbed a rebound and was smothered by Reid and Jaden McDaniels. Wembanyama swung his elbow in a windup motion and connected with Reid, who dropped the floor immediately.

Fans roared their disapproval as replays were shown on the Target Center videoboard as officials reviewed the play.

The Wolves led 36-34 at the time of Wembanyama's ejection.
