Marysville win NCKL JV Tennis Tournament
Marysville High School took the top spot in the NCKL JV Tennis Tournament Monday afternoon in Abilene. Marysville finished with 21 points, one better than second place Clay Center.
Clay Center's JJ Holte won the number one singles bracket going 4-0 on the day. Chapman's Jance Beck was second at 2-2 with Marysville's Atley Pekarek finishing third 2-3. Abilene's Lukas Rivera went 1-3 and finished fifth.
In two singles, Marysville's Erden Serrano was first at 3-0. Concordia's Jacob Gordon was second at 2-1 and Abilene's Joshua Gustin was third at 1-2.
Marysville's Myles Leis and LeeLand Nickelson won number one doubles with Clay Center's Enrique Aguero and Hayden Berroth placing second and Chapman's Kennith Worden and Airen Atkinson finishing third.
There were only two teams in two doubles and Clay Center's Braeden Peterson and Tate Peterson defeated Marysville's Denton Bogdan and Maverick Luedders.
Abilene didn't field a doubles team and Wamego and Rock Creek did not attend.
Team points: Marysville 21, Clay Center 20, Chapman 9, Concordia 7, Abilene 5.
