Indiana Hoosiers Schedule Visit With President Donald Trump

2025 was truly an historic year for the Indiana Hoosiers football team. They broke just about every school record for wins and became the first team in the modern era to go 16-0 in a season. And, of course, they won the national title.

Naturally, the Hoosiers received an invitation from President Donald Trump to visit the White House this year. Though in the current political climate it might be understandable if they held off on it.

Nevertheless, the Hoosiers have accepted the invitation and will be visiting the White House in a little over a week. According to ABC News, the visit will take place on May 11.

"ABC News reached out to the White House about the upcoming visit but did not receive an immediate response," the outlet reported.

Per the report, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti will attend. However, Heisman Trophy winning QB Fernando Mendoza, who was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders last week, is unconfirmed as of yet as he begins the early stages of his NFL preparations.

The arrival of Cignetti in 2024 quickly ushered in a run of success for the Hoosiers that the school previously didn't think possible for their football program. For decades Indiana ranked as the most hapless and hopeless college football programs in the major conferences.

Indiana hadn't won a conference title since the 1960s and spent year after year being a punching bag for the cream of the Big Ten crop.

But in his very first year, Cignetti led the Hoosiers to a first-ever 11-1 regular season record and a first appearance in the College Football Playoff. But their blowout loss to Notre Dame convinced most people that their success in 2024 was just a fluke.

Cignetti proved them wrong in the second year though. After bringing in Mendoza as a transfer from Cal, the team went on an unprecedented tear. They shocked the world by defeating the Oregon Ducks on the road in October, enjoyed a miracle win over Penn State in November and cruised to a perfect 12-0 regular season record from there.

Indiana subsequently shocked the world again by defeating Ohio State to win their first-ever Big Ten Championship Game and secure the top seed in the College Football Playoff. They then decimated Alabama and Oregon by a margin of 94-25 to set up a national title game against Miami, which they won 27-24 to win the title and cement 2025 as the greatest season in school history.
