Jon Gruden Sends Message to Diego Pavia After Accepting NFL Minicamp Invite
One of the most intriguing and polarizing prospects in this year’s NFL draft class is former Vanderbilt star and Heisman Trophy finalist Diego Pavia.
However, Pavia was not selected during the three-day event, despite 10 quarterbacks hearing their names called. He became the first Heisman finalist since 2014 to not be selected.
Why Pavia was not taken could be due to a multitude of reasons. His measurables make him one of the smaller players in the league at the QB position, comparable to Bryce Young and Kyler Murray, and being the household name he is, teams likely did not want the unnecessary attention on a QB who will likely begin his career as a backup.
Yet, on Sunday, one day after the draft concluded, Pavia officially accepted a minicamp invitation with the Baltimore Ravens.

Reacting to the news was former NFL head coach and current Barstool Sports personality Jon Gruden, who previously hosted Diego Pavia as one of his quarterbacks leading up to the draft on his "Gruden's QB Class."
"Good luck, Diego!!!" Gruden posted. "Rooting for you!"
He later added, "All he needs is a chance!! Let's go!"
Pavia will have a valuable opportunity to learn in a strong quarterback room that features Lamar Jackson, while also competing to earn a spot on the Ravens' training camp roster later this summer.
