Lady Spartans Swim Finishes in Seventh at Marion Aquatic Center
The Lady Spartans swim team was in action on Friday at the Marion Aquatic Center, and they put together another solid outing with a seventh-place finish that saw some good individual performances.
Headlining the Lady Spartans was the 400-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Jetta McGee, Scarlett Oller, Sofia Henning, and Connelly Prouse, who finished in fourth place. In the 200-yard medley relay, Prouse, along with Sage Wohletz, Ellie Grimmett, and Taryn Woydziak, finished eighth. It was a strong relay day for the Lady Spartans as they added a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Grimmett, Prouse, Wohletz, and Woydziak.
In the individual events, Woydziak finished ninth place in the 100-yard freestyle. Prouse continued a strong day with a ninth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle to round out the day for the Lady Spartans.
"It was a good meet for where we are at this time. We finally got an extended period of time without a meet and I have taken advantage of that time. I was very proud of them all," Head Coach Phil Metz said. "I know they are tired and sore from the practices, but they fought and swam well."
Next up for the Lady Spartans, both the swim and dive teams will be in action as they will have Senior Night on April 30. The team will honor three senior swimmers and the senior diver in their last home meet of their high school careers.
