Hornets Spring Showcase Sees Team Stingers Beat Team Corky
The College Football isn't in season until the middle of August, but the Hornet faithful got to see the next iteration of Hornets football Friday night as they held a Spring Showcase at Welch Stadium.
With nearly 500 fans in attendance, the Hornets had a 90-minute practice session, which included a mix of individual drills and group drills that split the team into two squads, Team Stingers or Team Corky. In the one-on-one drills, Team Corky won nine of the fifteen drills to take an 18-12 lead heading into the final quarter of action. Before that, at halftime, the Hornets took the time to honor the seniors of the 2025 season.
Back to the action, the scrimmage portion of the showcase only had one score, but it was a key score as Team Stingers took the lead 19-18 as transfer running back Terrel Graves scored on a two-yard run, and the PAT was good. The Corkys had a chance to win the scrimmage as they got into field goal range, but freshman kicker Dominic Leesman was wide right on the attempt.
In what is an early showing for the Hornets football team, they have concluded Spring practices and will be back in action over the summer as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 season.
