Atlanta Dream Rookie Sends Clear Message on Playing With Angel Reese
Angel Reese is a new addition to the Atlanta Dream roster for the upcoming 2026 WNBA season. Reese quickly established herself as a force in the league after being drafted No. 7 overall to the Chicago Sky in the first round of the 2024 WNBA Draft.
The 6-foot-3 forward led the WNBA in rebounding as a rookie in 2024 (13.1 per game) and again in her second season (12.6 per game). After spending two years in Chicago, the former LSU Tiger was acquired by Atlanta on April 6 in a package that included its first-round pick in 2027 and 2028.
Joining Reese as a new teammate on the Dream is their newly drafted center Madina Okot. Okot was selected by Atlanta with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA draft. The Kenyan-native came to the United States for her junior season, originally playing for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Okot transferred to South Carolina to play for Dawn Staley and her Gamecocks for the 2025-26 women's college basketball season. The 6-foot-6 center thrived in Columbia, averaging a double-double with 12.1 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game. She received All-SEC honors her senior season.
The Dream posted on social media to promote the new teammates. The post on X is a video clip of Okot's press conference. In the snippet, Okot speaks on her excitement to team up with Reese, her willingness to learn, and how it is all a blessing.
"Y'all ready to see that first Angel x Madina meet up " the Atlanta Dream wrote on X.
"Just the fact that I already know that I'm going to be beside Angel Reese," Okot says. "I feel like that is a very big blessing to me, and I am just so excited to learn so much from her. She plays the same position as me, and so I'm just sure that she's going to teach me a lot."
