With new deal, MIAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments will remain in KC

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association men’s and women’s basketball tournaments will remain in Kansas City through 2030, the conference announced.

The deal is a four-year extension of the contract set to expire in 2026.

The MIAA events have been played at Municipal Auditorium for 20 of the past 21 seasons. This year’s tournament begins March 5 with the championship games on March 9.

MIAA commissioner Mike Racy said Kansas City won a bidding process to maintain the tournaments.

“Our coaches and student-athletes love competing in the historic Municipal Auditorium, and it’s exciting that leaders in Kansas City want to continue to feature the MIAA basketball championships every spring as part of March Madness in this great college basketball city,” Racy said in a statement.

The deal will continue to keep tournament basketball bouncing in Kansas City for several years. The Big 12 men’s and women’s tournaments are set for T-Mobile Center through 2031. The NCAA Midwest Regional final is here in 2027.
