Missouri Tigers climb, Kansas Jayhawks drop out of weekly AP Top 25 football rankings
Missouri moved up two slots while Kansas dropped into the “others receiving votes” category alongside idle K-State in the sixth AP football poll of the season.
The Tigers (5-0) were accorded a No. 21 ranking following their 38-21 victory Saturday at Vanderbilt. Kansas (4-1), which was No. 24 a week ago after a 4-0 start to the season, received three votes, essentially placing the Jayhawks at No. 35 overall.
MU is 5-0 for the first time since 2013.
Kansas State (3-1), which started the season ranked but fell out of the poll after a road loss to Missouri, received 44 votes, trailing only Maryland (81) in the “others receiving votes” category. The Wildcats did not play Saturday.
K-State will travel to Oklahoma State on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff. KU will meet UCF at 3 p.m. Saturday in Lawrence, while Missouri will take on LSU at 11 a.m. Saturday in Columbia.
Georgia is No. 1 in this week’s AP poll, while Michigan is No. 2 and Texas, a 40-14 winner over KU Saturday, ranks No. 3. Ohio State is at No. 4, followed by Florida State, Penn State, Washington, Oregon, USC and Notre Dame.
