Northern Iowa hammers Missouri State; Washburn, Pitt State, Northwest Missouri all win
Dom Williams rushed for four touchdowns and 102 yards on 17 carries Saturday as Northern Iowa routed Missouri State 41-20 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Northern Iowa quarterback Theo Day was 22 of 37 for 291 yards and a touchdown for the host Panthers, who sacked Day’s counterpart for the Bears (2-5), Missouri State quarterback Jason Shelley, five times.

Pitt State 28, Missouri Western 16: The fifth-ranked Gorillas remained unbeaten at 8-0, with a 21-point third quarter proving the difference. Pitt State quarterback Chad Johnson Jr. was 12 of 23 for 187 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. He also rushed eight times for 63 yards. Teammate Caleb Lewis carried the ball 20 times for 101 yards and a TD. The Griffons fell to 3-5.
Northwest Missouri State 36, Northeastern State 3: The 14th-ranked Bearcats romped in their homecoming game, extending to 17 the nation’s longest Div. II homefield winning streak. The RiverHawks managed just three first downs and finished with a paltry 23 yards of total offense. Northwest (6-2), meanwhile, piled up 485 yards and 28 first downs. Quarterback Mike Hohensee was 20 of 29 for 220 yards, two TDs and one interception.
Washburn 37, Central Oklahoma 9: Quarterback Kellen Simoncic passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third as the Icahobods celebrated homecoming with a blowout at Yager Stadium. Washburn (5-3) picked off Central Oklahoma’s two quarterbacks a sum three times.
Fort Hays State 27, Central Missouri 14: The Tigers ended a four-game losing streak — and six-game home losing streak — in beating the Mules in Hays, Kan. Fort Hays State got a TD and 26-carry, 101-yard performance from Adrian Soto to improve to 2-6. The Mules fell to 2-6.
Emporia State 24, Missouri Southern 21: At Joplin, the Hornets twice rallied from behind to collect their sixth win of the season. ESU’s Braden Gleason was 24 of 31 for 211 yards and three touchdowns, including two to receiver Jaylen Varner.
Nebraska-Kearney 66, Lincoln 17: At Kearney, Neb., Lincoln (0-8) trailed 42-7 at halftime ... and things didn’t change much from there. Nebraska-Kearney (6-2) had a punishing two-headed rushing attack Saturday, with Sean Johnson Jr. rumbling for four touchdowns and 113 yards on 10 carries and Jamaal Joseph 114 yards on 11 carries.
Truman State 42, William Jewell 7: At Liberty, Truman State’s Shamar Griffith rushed for 110 yards against the host Cardinals. William Jewell trailed 35-0 at one point and scored its only touchdown in the third quarter.
