Kansas State has known what it’s like to have a meaningful football season well into autumn, and after last weekend’s victory at Oklahoma, the Wildcats figure to be part of the Big 12 championship race.

It’s been different at Kansas, where this time of year has typically been about counting down the days until the first Jayhawks basketball game. Not this year. KU is off to a 4-0 start and coming off a victory earned before a packed stadium in Lawrence.

On today’s episode of the SportsBeat KC podcast, beat writers Kellis Robinett and Gary Bedore discuss the Wildcats and Jayhawks.

K-State quarterback Adrian Martinez was remarkable against the Sooners, accounting for more than 400 yards and five touchdowns. KU quarterback Jalon Daniels has been great all season and has the Jayhawks thinking of bowls, polls and other rewards that had been far beyond their reach for more than a decade.
