Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to unveil bobblehead replicas of player statues

The life-size statues of baseball players at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum are being used as inspiration for bobbleheads.

The museum and the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame will unveil officially licensed Negro Leagues Field of Legends Bobbleheads at 2 p.m. Friday to celebrate Black History Month and the anniversary of the founding of the Negro National League, said Phil Sklar, co-found and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.

The bobbleheads, which will be available individually and as a puzzle set, are the likenesses of the 13 bronze statues at the museum in Kansas City. They make up the largest bobblehead puzzle set in terms of size and number of pieces, Sklar said.

Proceeds from the sale of the bobbleheads will go to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. More than $35,000 has been raised for the museum through the sale of the All-Centennial Bobblehead series released to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Negro National League in 2020.
