Kansas City Roos win third straight while finishing season sweep vs. Western Illinois
Marvin Nesbitt Jr. scored a game-high 26 points as the Kansas City Roos rolled to a home victory Saturday night.
Nesbitt helped push the Roos to a 51-point second half on way to a 91-82 win over Western Illinois at the Swinney Center.
The Roos have strung together three straight victories, a streak that includes another win over Western Illinois, 83-75 in Macomb, Illinois, on Monday. KC has won seven of eight, including six of its last seven games in the Summit League.
“I feel like this team, this year is special. We have a good bond, our chemistry is great, and we love playing for each other” Nesbitt said postgame Saturday night.
Nesbitt made 10 of 17 shots from the field, including 2 of 3 three-pointers. He also had three blocks, four rebounds and a steal.
Kansas City is 8-4 in the Summit and 15-9 overall.
The Roos are set to play St. Thomas next: on Tuesday night in St. Paul, Minnesota. Kansas City will be going for another regular-season sweep. The Roos beat St. Thomas 81-72 on Thursday at Swinney.
Kansas City Roos women’s team also notches victory: The Kansas City Roos women’s team rallied for an 87-85 overtime win at Western Illinois in Macomb on Saturday. Kiara Bradley’s three-pointer just before time ran out in regulation helped KC come back from 11 points down in the fourth quarter.
Bradley also helped seal the game with a three-pointer in overtime. She finished with 20 points.
Naomie Alnatas had a monster game. for the Roos. Alnatas finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for a triple-double. KC improved to 18-5 overall and 8-4 in the Summit League.
